REVIEW: Joe’s Premium American Pilsner

This week’s beer: Joe’s Premium American Pilsner by Avery Brewing Co. in Boulder
Colo.

This pilsner pours a hazy straw color with a nice, white head that dissipates to a thin covering which leaves nice lacing down the glass.

The aroma is bready with hints of tangerine and orange and its light color is impressive since it’s brewed with only barley and no adjuncts like rice or corn.

Its taste is light and crisp with noble German hops rounding out the sip. It has a nice mild bitterness. There is almost no aftertaste in the dry, clean finish.

It has a 4.7% alcohol content and is very easy to drink. There is definitely more substance to it than usual domestic pilsners, but it would make a great cooler beer on a canoe trip or after mowing the yard on a hot day.

I recently recommended this beer to someone who is a confirmed Bud Light drinker and it was received very well indeed.

Joe’s Pilsner is found at most area liquor stores in cans only.

Pair with a mild cheese.

Rating: 4.2
