UPDATED: FHS parents asked to avoid using Stone Street

Buses wait on Stone Street in front of Fayetteville High School Monday afternoon.

Update 4/17/12: Fayetteville Public Schools officials have updated their original request. Parents may continue to drop students off on Stone Street, but are asked to refrain from parking on the street.

New request from FPS:

Stone Street is open to all traffic both east and west bound. Due to construction, parking for any length of time is no longer an option on Stone Street. This area must be kept open for buses to load and unload students throughout the school day who are attending classes in satellite locations.

Parents bringing students to FHS in the morning can continue to drop off students as has been the past practice. Again, we ask for your assistance by not parking on Stone Street during the school day.

Original post:
Parents of Fayetteville High School students are being asked to avoid using Stone Street as a pick-up or drop-off point from now until the end of the school year.

School officials said the reduction in traffic will help make room for buses being used to transport students to temporary off-campus class and rehearsal locations until construction projects are completed at the high school.

FHS students are asked to use the Clinton Drive entrance to Harmon Field to access student parking.

Original request from FPS:

Beginning Monday, April 16, please do not drive on or drop off or pick up students on Stone Street. We will be using more buses to transport students to and from their off-site classes from Monday thru the end of the current school year, and reducing the traffic will help the our buses get students to and from these off-site classes on time. FHS students are asked to use the Clinton Drive entrance to Harmon Field to access student parking.
