The Arkansas Music Pavilion kicked off its 2012 season Thursday, April 19 with Sacramento alt-rockers Cake.
With no opening band on the bill, Cake was set to take the stage at 8 p.m. sharp, but technical difficulties pushed the music back about 45 minutes.
Frontman John McCrea apologized and explained to the crowd of about 1,500 that the “Evening with Cake” would include two full sets with a brief intermission.
A two-song encore (“Short Skirt/Long Jacket” and “The Distance”) wrapped the night, which was the first at the AMP’s new location inside the Washington County Fairgrounds.

Was it hot inside the tent?
Nope, there was a nice cool breeze most of the night. Had a lovely aroma of chicken/cow manure and cheap crappy beer by the end of the night to add to the ambiance.
Welcome the new AMP site. Looks good. Thanks for the pictures and bringing the live music. Let’s go see a show! Dgold, Honest FM

Great show, but the parking situation was ridiculous. One long line of cars from the gate to the stoplight on Garland was why the show started late. Every car at the gate had to be stopped and given the choice of $5.00 parking inside the gate or free parking outside. Who’s gets that money? Oh and if your expecting to buy lawn tickets at the gate, it may not happen. We were only offered reserved tickets at the gate for a higher price and told no lawn tickets were available, but the lawn was pretty empty. But the chicken/cow manure breeze made me feel at home. Thanks WAC.
Actually the show started late due to wiring problems on Vince DiFore’s setup; they should have tested stuff earlier but whatever.
