The 2012 Northwest Arkansas Music Awards ceremony was held last night at George’s Majestic Lounge. Here is a list of winners and a handful of photos.

University of Arkansas athletics director Jeff Long issued a news release Friday with an update on his search for a new head football coach. We’re expecting another update any day now.

You can look ahead at the week’s public meeting schedule without waiting for the Daily Flyer each morning. Just click on “Public Meetings” under the News & Views link in the main menu.

Monday Events

Mickey Hart

Five young, undocumented immigrants will participate in a unique panel discussion called “Undocumented: Living in the Shadows,” from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Fayetteville Town Center. The panelists were brought by their parents to the U.S. at a young age without proper immigration papers. Three panelists are students who grew up in Arkansas. The other three panelists are recent college graduates who grew up in Massachusetts, New York and Virginia. Their undocumented immigration status makes travel within the U.S. difficult and risky and their ability to seek employment legally impossible.

Also tonight, former Grateful Dead percussionist Mickey Hart is in town for a show at George’s. For those who aren’t familiar, Hart spent three decades performing with the Grateful Dead, and was half of the percussion tandem known as The Rhythm Devils along with fellow drummer Bill Kreutzmann.

Dave Schools on bass @ Mickey Hart Band tonight. So you’ve got a drummer from Grateful Dead and the amazing bass player of Widespread Panic.
