Cowboys Stadium out: Arkansas-Texas A&M series moved for at least two years

Arkansas fans who’ve grown accustomed to an annual trip to Jerry World to watch the Hogs play will have to take a chill pill for the next couple years.

The series will become a home-and-home campus series for the 2012 and 2013 seasons, beginning with a Sept. 29 matchup at Kyle Field in College Station, Tex. this year. The Razorbacks will host the Aggies at Razorback Stadium on Sept. 28 next year.

Arkansas officials say they hope to get the series back into Cowboys Stadium soon, targeting a return to Dallas in 2014.

Arkansas and Texas A&M have played in the Southwest Classic at Cowboys Stadium for the last three years. Since Texas A&M officially joined the Southeastern Conference this season, Cowboys officials worked with both institutions to help address scheduling difficulties created for the Aggies with their entry into the SEC.

The two teams have not met on campus since Arkansas left the Southwest Conference. Arkansas last played in College Station in 1991, while Texas A&M last played in Fayetteville in 1990.

The location of the Texas A&M game this year was the last “TBD” left on the 2012 Arkansas Football schedule prior to this announcement. With this news, the 2012 schedule is now complete.
