According to the artist’s one sheet on indie label JagJaguwar’s website, Moonface is not a band.

It is, however, the moniker that Spencer Krug (Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, Swan Lake, Frog Eyes) has chosen to make music under for the time being, and we’re happy to report that he is coming to Fayetteville for a show at Smoke & Barrel Tavern on June 23.

Call it whatever you want. It rules.

Krug began recording as Moonface in 2010 around the time Wolf Parade went on an indefinite hiatus. Since then, he has released an EP, and two full-length albums. His latest, With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery, was released on April 17 of this year.

Siinai will serve as the backing band for Moonface at the Fayetteville show, and New York-based La Big Vic is set to open.

The show is another by Chris Selby, who is responsible for a lot of big shows through the years, and who recently began booking after a five and a half year hiatus.

Tickets are $8, and can be purchased in advance by calling Selby at 479-283-7655.
