Cory Branan’s new LP, ‘MUTT’, is out now on Bloodshot Records

Cory Branan‘s new album, MUTT, is out today on Bloodshot Records.

The songs have been streaming over at Spinner for a few days now, but may sound familiar to Fayetteville residents for a different reason.

Branan lived in Fayetteville for a couple of years after releasing his second full-length album and could frequently be heard honing new songs both on Dickson Street and outside his apartment across the street from the castle at Wilson Park.

Those unfamiliar with Cory Branan will be quick to mention the title-suggesting mixture of genres represented within MUTT‘s 13 tracks, but longtime fans will feel right at home. Branan’s uncanny ability to anchor a wide variety of influences with a unique storytelling style and vivid lyrical imagery has long been a trademark of the Mississippi-raised singer-songwriter.

Cory left town in 2008 for Austin, Texas, but has since moved to New York and most recently, Nashville.

He’ll be back in Fayetteville for a July 18 show at George’s Majestic Lounge.

The couple who owned Sound Warehouse previously, introduced me and a lot of people to the songs of Cory Branan.

Looking forward to hearing the new album & the show July 18th. Thanks for the heads up.

I wondered where he went, I assumed he’d always been in Memphis, I never knew he lived up here. He had a live song back in the day that never made it on an album called ‘Attack of the 50 foot Hangover’ which was brilliant, he said at a show back in ’05 or so that he was tired of it even back then. Really cool guy, very unassuming, and genius lyricist.
