Giveaway: Colbie Caillat and Gavin DeGraw, June 17 at Arkansas Music Pavilion
This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to the winners, Aleshia S., Ashley Nail, Kate, and Elizabeth Akins
In the pop music world, singer/songwriters Gavin DeGraw and Colbie Caillat are about as famous as you can possibly be these days.
Both artists have recorded chart topping hits. Both have written songs for films and television. They’ve won awards. They sing the national anthem at sporting events.
That’s not all they have in common, either. They’re both coming to Fayetteville for a show at the Arkansas Music Pavilion on Sunday, June 17, and we have four pairs of tickets to give away to their show.
Try to win them.
How to enter
Gavin Degraw and Colbie Caillat are no strangers to Fayetteville.
Caillat was in town for a show at the AMP back in August of 2010, and DeGraw actually played George’s in 2008. Just because they’ve been here before, however, doesn’t mean that they know exactly how awesome Fayetteville is.
Leave a comment telling us where you’d take Gavin or Colbie (or any other visitor to Fayetteville) to show off the true essence of the city, and you’re entered.
What you’ll win
Four (4) lucky winners will win two (2) tickets each to the Sunday, June 17 performances by Colbie Caillat, Gavin Degraw, and Andy Grammar at the Arkansas Music Pavilion.
A few rules (read ‘em carefully):
- You may only enter this specific contest once.
- This contest is open to anyone anywhere except Fayetteville Flyer writers, Walton Arts Center employees, Arkansas Music Pavilion employees, and their immediate family members.
- Contest is open until 12 p.m. CST on Friday, June 1
Make sure you leave a valid e-mail address when filling out the comment form since that’s how we’ll contact you if you’ve won. Once we notify the winners, you’ll have 24 hours to respond via email to claim your prize. - You’ll have to provide us with your first and last name (if you win) and then be prepared to show a valid photo ID when picking up your tickets.
For more information about this performance or to purchase tickets, visit waltonartscenter.org.

I would take them to the Farmer’s Market on the Square, followed by lunch at Hammontree’s.
I’d take them to Hugo’s, and maybe up to the Mt. Sequoyah overlook so they can see the whole town!
I would take them Down town to the square during the farmers market…lots of home made crafts, locally grown vegetables, and nice people!
I would definitely take them to the Saturday morning Farmer’s Market on the downtown square and grab some Arsaga’s, Mama Carmen’s, or Jammin’ Java coffee as we stroll around. Take them to Hugo’s for lunch and the quirky shops in the area (The Mustache: Goods & Wears or Cheap Thrills, anyone?) Would have to go to a Razorback football game if it were in season. Next, Devil’s Den (although, just south of Faytown city limits) or bike ride around the city trails to work off lunch/work up a dinner appetite! Dinner at Bordino’s or Theo’s, show at Walton Arts Center/Theatre Squared/University Theatre (all good options). Next, WAC Artosphere displays and post-show drinks (depending on their mood, either Ella’s martinis, good beer at Brewski’s or George’s, or kilowatt at Powerhouse’s Party on the Patio)…not too many though, we’ll have to be up at a decent hour to have Sunday brunch and 99-cent mimosas at Cafe Rue Orleans before we rock out at their concert that night :-)
Before I lived in Fayetteville I thought of it as Dickson street and home to the Arkansas Razorbacks…but not much else. I know many other people that don’t live here think of it the same. Now that I have had the chance to experience some of most unique places in northwest Arkansas I would take Gavin and Colbie around to my favorite locally owned businesses so they can do the same. Our first stop: Momma Deans!
I’d take them on a tour of Fayetteville on the trail system. We’d ride to the farmers market, eat at the Green House Grill, and check out the botanical gardens.
Since they are scheduled to be in town on a Sunday, I would bring them to morning brunch at the Greenhouse Grille, with its emphasis on locally grown ingredients, to enjoy the Organic Blue Corn Pancakes and listen to the sounds of a local musician. If they were able to arrive on Saturday, in the morning we would grab coffee and fresh pastries (an almond croissant for me!) at The Little Bread Company before heading to the square to parooze the fresh produce and eclectic crafts of local artists. I’d be sure to grab us a quart of fresh berries before perching on a bench to enjoy a street musician and the parade of passing dogs. The afternoon would be spent wandering through the local shops on Block and around the square. We could drop into Cheap Thrills to pick up a funky outfit for the evening and browse the record collection at Sound Warehouse. If the weather allowed, I’d encourage them to rent a bike at Hoot 2 Scoot so that we could travel from the University to the northern end of town while appreciating the natural beauty of the Ozarks and the variety of neighborhoods Fayetteville offers. Once we returned the bikes we would likely end up on the patio at Tables & Ale to sip some of the best priced beer in town at a bar that has authentic charm and is visited by some of the best characters around. The day would come to a perfect close with us dancing in George’s at the Mountain Sprout show, where the two visiting musicians would appreciate one of the best representations of Ozark music at a venue the occupies the heart of the Fayetteville music scene. In the likely case that the pair extended their stay to enjoy even more of the local charm, Beer and Bacon Happy Hour at the Tanglewood Branch Beer Co would be top of the list for Monday!
Dickson st all day….
Farmers mkt followed up shopping on the square, especially Riffraff! Then to eat at Momma Deans or Hugo’s.
Fayetteville is beauty, so I would take them on a helicopter ride and let them choose their favorite site to see from the air, then enjoy a coconut margarita, chips, dip and a chimichanga from the patio at Jose’s. To cap it off, I would drive them into the city from West Fork on 540 at night to see the lights of the ‘ville. That is all they need…they’re in love!
Since UA is a huge draw to the city, definitely a walking tour of campus and end with a picnic on Old Main lawn. Wilson Park is a definite to play frisbee or just chill. Maybe a little thrifting at Flying Dog and Potter’s House Thrift. Then pre-game before the show with a CG Tea.
Oh, and a Diamond Hogs game…
I would take them shopping on the downtown square and show them the different shops and cafes downtown. Then, I would take them for lunch at Sassy’s Redhouse!!
I’d take both to gator golf and sno cones. Not much better than that
It’s quite impossible to pick one place in Fayetteville to take a visitor- but it only takes a single trip to one of our unique attractions to make them fall in love with the city. Mount Sequioah to see the hills all around, farmers market to see the community, followed by a trip down Dickson and up to Old Main.

Fayetteville is like no other city, it is unique in it’ s own little way. There are so many places to go and sights to see, but just like everyone else, there are those special hideouts that make Fayetteville special to me! Gavin and Colbie have more than likely experienced some pretty neat places around the country, but its my turn to show them the spots in this city to hangout and have a good time. Here is my top 5 places I would recommend going:
1. University of Arkansas Campus – it is very historic and has traditions like no other school
2. Hammond Tree- the best place to grab a yummy lunch or dinner and not to mention its close to the notorious Dickson St.
3. The Wine Cellar- it has a chill and inviting atmosphere with drink specials every night and the neatest wine tasting booth!
4. Fayetteville Square- great boutique shopping for them to find unique clothes and gifts as well as the farmers market!
5. Walton Arts Center- as entertainers I think it is important to experience other kinds of acts/shows and the WAC is one of the best places to see a spectacular show!
There is no better way to experience the town than with the ones that know it best!
Oh they would have so much fun if only we could show them around the town!!! For a great night I would take them to eat on Dickson, probably hugos or maybe even hammontrees-they are both so unique! Then we could see the sculptures that are on display at the Walton.arts center right now. And then a night on the town!! Starting at kingfish, then hopefully a great badn would be playing at smoke and barrel as always!!! And since we are showing singers around town we would HAVE to end the night at infusoon, making then sing a duet with me and dollar jello shots!!! Haha
I would take both of them to Herman’s…it has a great patio and good food! A local place with great flavor!!!
Everywhere! No one thing in Fayetteville ‘is Fayetteville’. All of the fun places, cool shops and amazing natural beauty make Fayetteville the amazing place it is!
I take them to the Farmer’s Market on the square, followed by lunch at Greenhouse Grille. Then we’d look for a few good books at the Dickson Street Bookshop!
I would take them to the Farmer’s Market for sure!
I would take them to Tanglewood for Old Timey night, Gerardi’s for the best Italian food in town, and then hit up Dickson for a look at the night life with a stop off at Maxine’s fpr open mic night.
F
Farmers market, Hugo’s & a show at George’s!
farmers market followed by brunch at common grounds – best bloody marys ever! then to the dickson street bookstore!! no better way to spend a saturday morning in fayetteville.
There are so many favorite places I’m not sure where to start! First, I’d take them by Old Main Lawn – my first love in Fayetteville – and show them Senior Walk (complete with all the fun old stories about disappearing classes and broken stones…and my name, of course). Then, it’d be off to the Square where, ideally, we could experience the community that is the Farmers’ Market. A visit to the Square would not be complete without a stop at Riffraff and the Mustache to sample some lovely local finds. Then, who doesn’t love a burger from Hugo’s and perhaps a cupcake from Bliss? To top off the tour, we’d have to stop at Arsaga’s on Gregg – no Fayetteville trip is complete without that. There are so many other places to see, but part of the beauty of our town comes in talking to the locals, so I’d be happy spending the rest of the time just chatting with people we met. Who better to show off our town than those that love it most?
I’d take Colbie to Devil’s Den.
The square & uofa campus
Won’t it be great when we can also say BHK on the Square and the new Arsagas creperie?
All of over Fayetteville, but definitely tour of the campus, farmer’s market, Dickson Street, brunch at Common Grounds or Emelia’s, etc.
