As promised, Walton Arts Center officials delivered a “special announcement” during Friday night’s Luke Bryan concert at the AMP.
What was it? Apparently, a new annual event is headed our way called the Taste of Country Festival.
Details are slim at this point, but we do know that country superstar Miranda Lambert will headline the inaugural event, set for Aug. 17 at the Arkansas Music Pavilion.
Lambert, a two-time Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year, recently topped the country singles chart for the fourth time in her career with her single, “Over You,” which she co-wrote with her country superstar husband, Blake Shelton.
We’ll post more information on the festival, including ticket prices, as soon as it’s released.

SExy.
The AMP is too small to host Miranda Lambert. And my goodness, who wants to die outside roasting at a festival in the late August heat and humidity in Arkansas?!
They need to do away with the AMP and have concerts indoors at the U of A. Much better for the artists and the fans. The AMP’s been a huge waste of money. Especially when two large venues (or 3 with Randall Track Center) are available on campus.
Summertime is outdoor concert season. Drink more water and shake yer booty. If you’re into Miranda Lambert, I bet this is gonna be a good time.
**ATTENDANCE IS OPTIONAL** i am not a big fan of the location(s), the partial-blacktop surface, or the repetitive lineup of the AMP. and i do like my a/c. but outdoor concerts are great. look around the country — outdoor music festivals are everywhere. and i don’t know how big of a venue that you think is needed, but i’m pretty sure most of the residents of Fayetteville could fit in the AMP.
Please notify me via e-mail when ticket sales for this event will become available. I believe this event should be moved to The Randall Tyson Track Center or another facility on The U of A campus!
Bob,
Waste of money for who? The university athletic properties are rarely viable venue options. Without the AMP, these shows would not exist in the Fayetteville area. We should be thankful we get these shows and that private investors are willing to build venues and invest in cultural endeavors in our area.
Even though country music is not my thing, I think it’s great that the AMP has booked someone who is currently very popular. Two-time vocalist of the year, within the last decade? Not too shabby!
She actually sings some good songs that are pretty poetic and thoughtful. Heart Like Mine and House that Built Me are a couple of good ones for the uninitiated. I’ll take her style over the squawking of Nikki Minaj any day.
