American Host Families Needed for Incoming International Students

Spring International Language Center at the University of Arkansas is looking for friendly people to host college-age international students while they study English. If you have a bedroom that’s sitting empty and an interest in other countries and cultures, then hosting could be a great experience for you.

Spring International Language Center is the intensive English language institute at the University of Arkansas. Students who attend SILC come from a wide range of countries and cultural backgrounds. The students desire to live in American families to truly experience life in America, share their cultures, and practice English.

Levels of commitment range from hosting a student for one weekend to three or nine weeks or even an entire academic year. Families are compensated fairly, but hosting is otherwise a volunteer opportunity. Interested people should contact Jimmy Bowie by phone at (479) 575-7600 or by email at jbowie@uark.edu. More information about hosting students is available at www.uark.edu/silc/hostfamily.
