A corral of dairy goats was one of several exhibits in the Barnyard Buddies petting zoo set up during the Animal Extravaganza event held Wednesday at the Fayetteville Public Library.

Cyclists in Fayetteville could soon have a new option for traveling from the city’s trail system to the downtown area. The proposed Spring Street Bikeway would follow Spring Street east from Frisco Trail to Block and East Avenues, creating a connection to the square.

Extreme heat and dry conditions have led to a burn ban in Fayetteville that prohibits outdoor burning of any kind, including the use of fireworks through the Fourth of July.

Martin Bemberg, a 24-year-old language tutor and lifelong resident of the city said he plans to challenge Matthew Petty for the Ward 2, Position 2 City Council seat in the Nov. 6 general election.

Primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall is coming to Fayetteville in October to speak during a special 10th birthday celebration for the University of Arkansas Honors College.

Local artist Eugene Sargent, who was recently diagnosed with lymphoma, has inspired several Fayetteville residents to come together to plan a fundraiser to help defray some of his treatment costs.
