First Security Bank will soon open a branch location in the Garland Center on the University of Arkansas campus.

The bank will relocate its Arkansas Student Union branch into the retail space at 616 N. Garland Avenue.

“We love being on campus,” said David Russell, president of First Security Bank in Fayetteville. “We have enjoyed a great relationship with the university in the Student Center and now look forward to being a part of the growing retail environment.”

First Security will join the University of Arkansas Bookstore, Walmart on Campus, TCBY, Lewis & Clark, and several other businesses that have set up shop in the Garland Center since its opening in July 2009.

The bank will occupy 1,200 square feet in the complex, which is nearing full capacity.

If all goes according to plan, the new location will be open sometime in August.
