Details are thin at this point, but it looks like the Avett Brothers will play in Fayetteville on Oct. 16 at the Arkansas Music Pavilion.
The news came in a Friday morning tweet from the AMP staff.
BIG NEWS!! We’re bringing @theavettbros to the AMP on October 16! Stay tuned for details about tix. We’re super excited & hope you are too!
A second tweet, straight from the band, indicates pre-sale tickets will be available on Tuesday.
New dates! 10/11-Tuscaloosa Amphitheatre! 10/12-Mud Island Amphitheatre 10/16- Arkansas Music Pavilion-presale begins on Tuesday!!
The North Carolina band, who were recently in the area for the 2012 Wakarusa Music Festival, are set to release their sixth full-length album, “The Carpenter,” on Sept. 11.
We’ll post more when we know more.

YES!
Thank you, AMP! This is the best news ever!
Well played AMP, this might redeem you after bringing the Nuge to town…
At least the Nuge show didn’t make me fall asleep like this band would.
See them live. That will change your mind.
This is freaking fantastic! Yay yay yay!!!
By my count, listed below are the top ten most requested bands from the
“What bands do you want to see in Fayetteville in 2012?” post earlier this year.
Not too bad!
1. Avett Brothers (June 1 – Wakarusa / Oct. 16 – The AMP)
2. Arcade Fire
3. My Morning Jacket
4. The Black Keys
5. The Decemberists
6. Wilco (May 10 – The AMP)
7. Mumford & Sons
8. Flaming Lips
9. M. Ward
10. Alabama Shakes / Bon Iver / The Shins (3-way tie)
Another Avetts show, should be sweet. “Salina”, their song, was a highlight at Wakarusa this year once again (they have played it at Mulberry Mountain once before that too).
Alabama Shakes are still high on my list of bands waiting to see for the 1st time around here. Hope they come here soon at still fit in George’s.
add the wood brothers to that list!

Cool news. I dig ‘em. Although, I must admit, I always thought this song & performance were a bit hard to watch. The one brother singing lead…I don’t know. Forget it.
Hope to hear The Green Cards play here sometime.
i’m stoked! check tout this great version of “and it spread”

Anybody hear about ticket prices? We bought presale tickets through the Avett Brothers website, and it was nearly $50 a piece after fees…but then saw that tickets are going to be $31???
Update: Tickets are $37 (general admission) and go on sale Friday, July 20 at 9 a.m.
Oops…$37.
Wow. What a bummer.
I’d love to see The Civil Wars show up in NWA soon. They are fantastic in concert.
per AMP website: “This show will take place on the small stage and will not be under the tent.”
does anyone have a visual of this? i’ve been to newAMP, but didn’t notice an alternate stage. makes me wonder why the band is performing there if not under the big top.
There is no bigtop anymore. Dan Skoff killed it.
They use a separate stage for larger shows. Here’s a photo from the Hank Williams Jr. concert in April.

groovy — thanks!
