Get out your computing device, open your calendar software, double-click on Thursday, Aug. 23, and type “King Tuff, Lightbulb Club” in the “new event” field.

Or mark your calendar. Whatever. There’s a rock show happening that night.

Chris “Clunk” Selby has booked Sub Pob Recording artist King Tuff with Fullerton, Calif. band The Audacity.

King Tuff is fronted by Vermont native Kyle Thomas, the gold-toothed, “crazy eyed” (the Austinist’s words, not ours) guitarist and songwriter whose 2008 release Was Dead generated enough attention to earn him a deal with Sub Pop.

The band released a self-titled album in May of this year, and has been touring steadily ever since (they were in Little Rock for a show at Sticky Fingerz last week), performing for energetic crowds and garnering favorable reviews all over the country.

It sounds good to us. Watch the video below to see for yourself.

Tickets are $8 at the door. The show will be 21-and-up, but according to the Facebook event, there’s a chance that the band will play an all-ages show earlier that evening.

Pitchfork, Stereogum, and even Rolling Stone have featured King Tuff lately. So yeah.. Selby continues to finagle bands into town that are bigger than the venue they end up playing, which is pretty danged cool.
