Deadline to apply for A&P Commission seat is Friday, Aug. 3

There’s only one week left to apply for the open seat on the Fayetteville Advertising and Promotion Commission.

The group is seeking a new member to fill an unexpired term which expires April 1, 2014.

The seat became vacant with the resignation of Jammin’ Java owner Brandon Karn.

Applicants should be an owner or manager of a local hotel, motel, or restaurant, be a registered voter and a Fayetteville resident.

Applications are available on the city’s website or may be picked up at the Fayetteville Visitor Center on the downtown square. Deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012. Applications should be delivered to A&P Executive Director Marilyn Heifner at the Fayetteville Visitor Center, 21 S. Block Ave. in Fayetteville.

Commissioners will consider the applicants and choose a new commissioner during their next schedule meeting at 2 p.m. on Aug. 13 in the Fayetteville Town Center. The selection will then need to be ratified by the Fayetteville City Council.

Fayetteville Advertising and Promotion Commission

The seven-member commission is comprised of two elected city officials (City Council members or the mayor), four owners or managers of businesses in the tourism industry (at least three from hotels, motels, or restaurants) and one person from the public at-large.
