The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory and a hazardous weather outlook for parts of western Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma.
Temperatures of around 105 are expected in Fayetteville with heat index values reaching 108 on Tuesday.
The heat wave is expected to last at least through Thursday, with only slight cooling forecast for the upcoming weekend.

Tuesday: Sunny in the morning then becoming partly cloudy. Highs around 103. Light winds becoming southwest around 10 mph in the afternoon. Heat index readings 100 to 108.
Wednesday: Partly cloudy. Highs around 104. South winds around 10 mph.
Thursday: Partly cloudy. A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs around 104.
Friday: Partly cloudy. A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs around 100.
Saturday: Partly cloudy. Highs in the upper 90s.
Sunday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 90s.
