News Briefs

Installation is nearly complete on a new HD video screen at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The new screen measures 167 feet wide and 38 feet tall, nearly doubling the size of the original display which was installed in the middle of the scoreboard 12 years ago.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory and a hazardous weather outlook for parts of western Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma. Temperatures of around 105 are expected in Fayetteville with heat index values reaching 108 today.

Robert Walker, owner of Flying Possum Leather, is set to serve two years in prison after pleading guilty to a felony marijuana charge with intent to deliver. Walker could be released in nine months if he completes a drug treatment program and is paroled.

It’s time to fill some open board, commission and committee positions here in Fayetteville. Anyone interested has until 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24 to apply.

The Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo show scheduled for the Arkansas Music Pavilion on Sunday, Aug. 19 has been moved to the Walton Arts Center.

    Wesley Snipes is living it up in Club Fed. He gets to choose 1 meal each week off the menu, workout, swim, have a private area with his visitors. That place is like a resort with security guards.
