The filing period for City Council and other municipal candidates ended Friday, meaning the races are set for the Nov. 6 general election.

Two more Ward 2 candidates filed last week entering the City Council race including incumbent Matthew Petty and perennial local candidate Adam Fire Cat.

Renovation of the 80-year-old swimming pool at Wilson Park is set to begin today. The work will include repairing cracks in the pool and deck, removing pool plaster and replacing the pool and deck surface.

Local businesses interested in doing business with the City of Fayetteville are invited to a free vendor workshop scheduled for Friday, Aug. 24 at the Clarion Inn.

The students are back in town and several Flyer Sponsors are offering back-to-school specials this week. Check out the full list of weekly deals and more.
