News Briefs

The entire stretch of East Center Street will soon include new tree wells, streetlights and brick borders, similar to the already-rebuilt sections of sidewalk near the square.

The Fayetteville City Council’s Street Committee voted on Tuesday to approve construction of three “bumpouts” which will extend the width of the sidewalks to about 16 feet in some areas on the south side of the street.

With so much support already in the bag, it should come as no surprise that a tunnel will be built under Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard as part of the Frisco Trail southern extension project.

Police arrested a man who they say was carrying narcotic pills on the Fayetteville High School campus shortly after noon on Monday.

Legendary Mississippi roots rock band Blue Mountain is coming to town next month.
