This looks like a case of using taxpayer funds for political purposes. Town Hall meetings in the past were scheduled once every quarter. Didn’t we just have one at Butterfield Village a couple of weeks ago? It must be election time. The last two, 4th quarter meetings that I found on the Flyer, were held in mid November and December. This one seems to be a bit rushed up.
I think this is in conjunction with the town and gown stuff to get the University involved in the city.
Looking at our past coverage, meetings were scheduled in the following months:
2010 – March, May, August, October
* I don’t recall a “Town & Gown” meeting that was held in 2010
2011 – February (Town & Gown), March, June, August, November
* February meeting was delayed until April due to a snow storm
2012 – March, June, August, October (Town & Gown)
* There may still be a fourth regular meeting sometime later this year. I’ll ask about that.
John L Smith and Mayor to switch positions.
