Walgreens to close 76 USA Drug stores, including both Fayetteville locations

Twenty-seven USA Drug stores in Arkansas are set to close in November, including both Fayetteville locations, according to multiple reports.

Walgreens, which recently purchased the Little Rock-based pharmacy chain, reportedly informed employees at several USA Drug stores in Arkansas of the news this week.

A Walgreens spokesman did not immediately return a phone call Tuesday morning, but several news outlets have published a list of Arkansas closures which, apparently, are a part of a larger list of 76 USA Drug stores that will close this fall.

The Fayetteville stores are at 1572 N. College Ave. and 2111 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

It looks like one of the Fayetteville locations – next door to Taco Bell on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard – already has a new business lined up for the property. Texas-based firm Bannister Engineering has submitted preliminary plans to city staff for a Panda Express restaurant at the same address.

The other Fayetteville store is located in front of Ozark Natural Foods in Evelyn Hills Shopping Center.
