The Fayetteville Animal Shelter will offer $10 adoptions for all pets during the “‘Fall’ Into Love Adoption Extravaganza” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22.

The $10 fee will cover the spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, and the rabies and booster vaccinations.

“We are excited to invite the community to come to the shelter and see the improvements we have made so far this year and to help match potential adopters with the new furry family members,” said Justine Lentz, the city’s animal services superintendent.

Lentz said those interested should arrive at the shelter early on Saturday and should consider filling out an adoption application in advance in order to be pre-approved before the event.

Applications can be picked up at the Fayetteville Animal Shelter, located at 1640 S. Armstrong Ave., or at accessfayetteville.org.

It should be noted that potential adopters likely will not be able to take home their new pet on Saturday because of a new state law that requires all pets adopted from shelters to be spayed or neutered before the adoption is complete. According to a news release, the shelter’s veterinarian, Robb Jones, will work to get all of the adopted pets spayed and neutered the following week.

For more information, call the shelter at 444-3456 or stop by and meet the pets.
