There’s froyo on campus, there’s froyo uptown, and there’s froyo downtown. Froyo fans on the west side of Fayetteville, however, have been out of luck.

That has changed with the opening of Too Cool, a new frozen yogurt shop located at 1155 N. Tahoe Pl., just off Wedington Drive in Fayetteville (in the back of the Hunan Manor building).

The business is owned by Kevin Mitchell, who opened the shop after deciding that a career change was the best way to deal with recent changes in the job market related to his area of expertise.

“I was an unemployed engineer, working part time jobs, and I just decided I needed to open my business or watch my money go away,” Mitchell said. “All the engineering jobs are going overseas these days.”

Mitchell said he talked to friends who went into the frozen yogurt business in another market, and decided it was time to try his hand in the frozen treat business.

The new self-serve shop features 15 flavors rotating through five available machines, with around 30 toppings to choose from. The space features a unique decor, with 50′s style chrome tables, and a topping station fashioned from the hood of a 1965 Mustang.

Too Cool is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

This is such great news for West Fayetteville! I can’t wait to visit Too Cool and try some of the 15 different flavors.

My only complaint is that “Too Cool” should always be spelled “II Cool.” Bring on the froyo.

I always love to see a new business open in Ward 4. Stop in and try it!

Took my folks here after the football game last Saturday. Really nice guy working who I assume is the owner. Hope he can make it stick.

He’ll need some good advertising stuck in there behind Hunan Manor.
