Fayetteville Police Chief Greg Tabor announced street closure plans for the 13th Annual Bikes, Blues and BBQ motorcycle rally, set for Wednesday, Sept. 26 through Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012.
Tabor said there are currently no plans to close Dickson Street or West Avenue to vehicle traffic on Wednesday or Thursday, but if motorcycle or pedestrian safety dictates a closure, the situation will be re-evaluated.
Street closures to several streets will begin on Friday and Saturday “as public safety dictates” and are subject to change, Tabor said.
Friday street closures
Dickson Street will be closed from St. Charles to Arkansas Avenue. West Avenue will initially be closed from Spring Street to Watson Street, but as the day progresses, the closure will extend to Lafayette Street.
Saturday street closures
Dickson Street will be closed from St. Charles Avenue to Arkansas Avenue. West Avenue will be closed from Spring Street to Lafayette Street.
Parking
Parking on Dickson Street will be limited at certain times of the day. Prior to each day of the event, signs will be placed early in the morning hours indicating when vehicles must be removed from Dickson Street. Citizens are encouraged to pay close attention to these signs and have their vehicles removed by the designated time.
A portion of the paid parking area in the Entertainment District will be suspended for the event, but residential permitted and paid parking will be enforced in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Wrong!! Dickson is already closed!!!!
I just drove down Dickson… in a car. It’s not closed yet.
wonder how much is lost in parking revenues during this event—shouldn’t be too hard to get figures for say a big game weekend and then extend it by 2 days. the kiosks were bagged at least as of Thurs.
BBBBQ is different. We don’t charge bikers parking because……… and this event is different from football or other large Fayetteville events because……….. and this makes sense to the city because……………
When city officials are in the pockets of the A&P racket, we all WIN!
and guaranteed none of these pillars of the community actually live within earshot of College Ave or Dickson. Why even Coody’s drunk the koolaid and supports this event now. Bring enough money to the table and it don’t matter what you do to the town or to working people who are more than just inconvenienced.
What?! I happen to really enjoy modified mufflers tearing up and down my quiet street at all hours of the day and night. I also enjoy the idling, it makes me feel like the bikers are really taking the time to appreciate my house before they speed back up the hill. I also cherish the constant, loud hum coming from Dickson. I’ve always wanted to know what it feels like to have bees in my ears and now, I know!
I sure don’t mind that my home environment is under siege from Tuesday to Sunday. As long as someone is making money, my peace and quiet are secondary.
Welcome to Hell, Fayetteville.
(for four days)
I assume the parking exception has something to do with Dickson just being a madhouse anyway. 5 bikes in one spot, and that sort of thing. I do still disagree though. Maybe the city should charge a one time parking pass fee to park your bike on Dickson for the entire festival.
