Note: We’ve also compiled a list for grownups.

Most parents don’t know this, but the week leading up to Halloween is a pretty desperate time for a lot of kids.

Secret candy stash supply levels are at an annual low right, and are in critical need of replenishing. Easter candy is long gone, and the only thing left from the homecoming parade are the smashed Tootsie Rolls and crumpled Smartees that were trampled underfoot and left for the birds. Kids know, however, that there is hope on the horizon. The Christmas of candy collecting, otherwise known as Halloween, is right around the corner.

Neighborhood Trick-or-Treating will take place as usual on Oct. 31, and there are some other opportunities for kids to fill their plastic Jack-O-Lanterns.

We thought it might be nice to create a collection of family-friendly Halloween activities that we know of around town, and to allow you folks to share anything we missed in the comments below.

Happy (candy) hunting, kids.

Are there any haunted houses around this area year?
The non-kiddie type and not a corn field?
