Chick-Fil-A to open inside Bud Walton Arena for Razorback basketball games

One of the concession stands inside Bud Walton Arena has been transformed into a Chick-Fil-A restaurant.

Pretzels, pizza, burgers, hot dogs, and candy bars. Those are the items that hungry Razorback fans could choose from for a quick meal before a game at Bud Walton Arena.

As of the 2012 basketball season, however, you can add chicken sandwiches to that list.

A Chick-Fil-A has taken over one of the concession stand spaces, and will be serving up a limited menu before and during home basketball games this year.

Kevin Trainor, UA Associate Athletic Director for Public Relations, said the restaurant chain will operate through Sodexo, the company that manages concessions for all Razorback facilities.

According to the signage at the arena, the Chick-Fil-A concession stand will offer chicken sandwiches, wraps, fruit cups, cookies, and potato chips.

Chick-Fil-A is one of several local and national brands that operates a location inside Reynolds Razorback Stadium for football games, but as far as we can remember, the restaurant will become the first chain to set up shop inside Bud Walton for a Razorback basketball games.

$4 for a tea!?!?! I forgot just how ridiculous concession stand prices are!

Hate filled chicken sandwiches at an arena near you!!

5 bucks for a sandwich or 8 bucks for a wrap? What a ripoff. How can they justify these prices?

  4. Jim says:

I don’t think they are hated by that many folks. Yet seem to always be bussy.

  5. Rozz says:
    Thursday, Nov 1, 2012 at 4:29 pm

They need to charge high prices to fund their pet projects. Gays aren’t going to oppress themselves, you know.

    • David Franks says:
      Thursday, Nov 1, 2012 at 4:39 pm

You must not be aware that gays actively and deliberately choose to embrace a lifestyle that inevitably leads to oppression, degradation and agonizing death. Just like straights actively and deliberately choose a lifestyle that leads to superiority, wholesomeness and immortality.

I’m surprised that Hallmark doesn’t have a greeting card to commemorate the choice. It’s clearly a benchmark in every young life.

All prices at big sporting events are that much or more. They probably pay a lot for rent and have a short time to make as much money as possible to pay for it and turn profit. Captive audience.

As an alum of the UA, I’m hugely disappointed in the University’s choice to add yet another Chick-Fil-A to Fayetteville.

Tyson chicken is crap. It will be hard to give me a good argument on that.

Every single one of you is wrong. Our basketball program is finally back on the rise and now that we have another food option in the arena you’re complaining? If you can’t stand it, sneak in your own snacks! But oh wait I’m assuming you love the Hogs too much to do that. Either eat before or don’t go to the games. WPS, about time Fayetteville and Hog nation stands up and actually supports the basketball program. Fair weather fans… Pathetic

When people can post annon, it seems like the probability of people bitching increases exponentially. Just think, if a block of cheese materialized every time someone wined, we would be overwhelmed with cheddar and asaigo.

For those angered about this company’s former doscriminatory policies and donations I share your anger at the past. However, it should be noted that Chick Fil A has made many changes in the last few months to cease donations to groups that discriminate against the LGBT community. They have also created policy declaring the respect of all people regardless of sexuality. I think Chick Fil A should be commended on their change of heart. It’s time to forgive and move on and enjoy some delicious chicken sandwiches!

    • Daniel Maner says:
      Friday, Nov 2, 2012 at 7:21 am

Have they changed their heart or just their policies because of public outcry?

      • ArkStudent says:
        Friday, Nov 2, 2012 at 8:26 am

I think there is something they say about where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

    • rickyallen2 says:
      Friday, Nov 2, 2012 at 8:23 am

Change of heart?! What a joke. It’s about the money. They know they have to at least pretend to like gays to get up into the northern, more liberal markets.

    • so fresh and so and so says:
      Friday, Nov 2, 2012 at 8:52 am

they’ve only changed their official policy to look like they don’t discriminate, but their executive still donates to anti-gay campaigns.

I expect nothing less from the UA who continually fail to amend their policies to be inclusive of gays and lesbians.

    • WW says:
      Sunday, Nov 4, 2012 at 12:30 am

There really hasn’t been much of a change in policy.

Arkansas’s own Mike Huckabee says so: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0912/81543.html

  12. Lavender says:
    Friday, Nov 2, 2012 at 9:17 am

So what happens when there is a game or other event on a Sunday? Do they open anyway even though it is in violation of company policy? Or do they remain closed and not offer any food or services to the crowds, thus wasting the space they are in?

    • rickyallen2 says:
      Friday, Nov 2, 2012 at 11:27 am

Well the Chick-Fil-A in the Union is closed on Sundays while everything else is still open. I’m assuming this one will be as well.

  13. Frank says:

  14. Shorty T says:

I think this is great. It provides more options besides the typical burger, dogs, and sodas. And if you don’t like it that much, you can eat somewhere else inside Bud Walton. Everyone acts like this is just absolutely horrible. Is it really that bad or do ya’ll just need something to moan and groan about. I’m sure if something else went in, such as McDonald’s someone would have a complaint about it. What they really need is a bar then the games would be worth wild.

    • chris says:
      Friday, Nov 2, 2012 at 1:17 pm

      Worth hog wild? Sorry.

    • rickyallen2 says:
      Friday, Nov 2, 2012 at 2:18 pm

If McDonalds was donating to anti-gay hate organizations too, I’m sure I’d be saying the same thing. ;)

Pass. Guess I’m just a stubborn s.o.b. when it comes to this stuff. I still haven’t stepped foot in Kohl’s since Tree-gate circa 2000.

    Don’t let your pickles touch!

    • glutenfree says:

  16. U MAD? says:
    Tuesday, Nov 6, 2012 at 8:38 pm

LOL at the people mad about it being put it. Sorry it’s delicious. As for the prices that’s pretty reasonable compared to paying $4.00 for a crappy hotdog. The line at this stand will be unbelievably long and they’ll have to open another soon b/c they’ll sell out of product. Book it and deal with it

  17. c- says:
    Wednesday, Nov 7, 2012 at 10:02 am

I am all for different concessions but these prices are CRAZY, you can stop before the game and grab the same sandwich for about $3.00.

I’m with James, sneak your own snacks in that’s what we do.
