The Fayetteville Underground has hired Julie McQuade, the city’s former Community Outreach Coordinator, to fill their newly-created business manager position.

McQuade will work part-time for the artist collective to assist with marketing, promotion, and other business-related duties.

Underground artist Hank Kaminsky said McQuade was a perfect fit for the position.

“She’s very qualified, first of all, with her experience doing what she did with the city. She’s organized, and she has a great, outgoing personality,” Kaminsky said. “She also has good technical skills, and will really be able to help with social media, and things of that nature.”

McQuade said she looks forward to taking some of the business duties off the plates of the Fayetteville Underground artists to allow them more time to do more of what they do best; create art.

She also said she sees great potential in the organization.

“One of my goals is to expand the reach of the Underground not only here in Fayetteville, but regionally as well,” she said. “I really want to grow the awareness for local people that you don’t have to be wealthy to buy art. There are beautiful pieces for every price range.”

McQuade said that orientation activities for the new job began this week, and that she’ll officially start working at Fayetteville Underground on Wednesday, Nov. 7.
