Wakarusa organizers plan Thunder on the Mountain country music festival

Pipeline Productions, organizers of the Wakarusa and Harvest music festivals, are set to debut a three-day country music festival this year called “Thunder on the Mountain.”

Like Wakarusa and Harvest, Thunder on the Mountain will include four stages on Mulberry Mountain near Ozark, Arkansas.

The inaugural festival is scheduled for June 6-8, just one week after the 2013 installment of Wakarusa.

Artist lineups won’t be announced until December, but Pipeline spokeswoman Emily Ginsberg said Thunder on the Mountain promises to be “the Midwest’s premiere country festival in 2013 and all years to come.”

For what it’s worth, we’re hearing that Thunder on the Mountain hopes to be a Midwest version of major country music festivals like Stagecoach and WE Fest which usually feature artists like Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town and Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers.

Again, we don’t have any information on the inaugural lineup, but don’t be surprised to see some major names on the list.

Similar to Pipeline’s other festivals, Thunder on the Mountain will include camping (RVs included), food, craft vendors, river floats, fishing and hiking.

Besides a website at thunderonthemountain.com, Thunder on the Mountain is also on Facebook and Twitter.
