News Briefs

Bret Bielema celebrates after a 70-31 Wisconsin win over Nebraska on Saturday in the 2012 Big Ten title game.

After a nearly eight-month-long coaching search, Arkansas has hired Bret Bielema as its new head football coach. Bielema, 42, comes to the Razorbacks after seven years as head coach at Wisconsin.

Mayor Lioneld Jordan held his final Town Hall Meeting of the year Monday night at the Fayetteville Boys and Girls Club. Here’s what was discussed.

A planned downtown parking deck will be built on the southeast corner of the Walton Arts Center campus at Spring Street and School Avenue. Fayetteville City Council members voted unanimously Tuesday to approve the site, which was recently recommended by Mayor Lioneld Jordan and a committee of hired consultants and city staff.

For more info on each item passed during Tuesday night’s council meeting, see our City Council recap post.

Looking to have a deck built in the spring? CMI Construction does great work. Here are some photos of one built in Bella Vista recently. That and more in this week’s Flyer Sponsor post.
