News Briefs

Racers run north along Garland Avenue Sunday morning during the 2012 Fayetteville Half Marathon.

The third annual Fayetteville Half Marathon was held Sunday morning requiring closure of several streets around town. Jasper resident Johnny Purvis’ winning time was 1:11:56, nearly nine minutes faster than second place finisher Eric Fernstrom (1:20:17) of Rogers. The first place female finisher was Rachel York (1:32:06) of Fayetteville. A full list of results is available at the event’s website.

This week’s scheduled public meetings include the A&P Commission, a City Council agenda-setting session, the Street Committee and more.

TheatreSquared’s version of Tennessee Williams’ “Period of Adjustment” runs through Dec. 30 at Nadine Baum Studios in Fayetteville. Our own Tobias Wray called it a “gorgeous production with at least a little Christmas cheer,” and said he’d be seeing it again.

The Arkansas basketball team lost 80-67 to No. 3 Michigan Saturday in Ann Arbor. Here’s a roundup of a few stories about the game.
