The classic will travel to 16 cities beginning Jan. 10, and will stop in Fayetteville on Jan. 25 at George’s Majestic Lounge.

Wakarusa 2013 is set for May 30 – June 2, 2013 on Mulberry Mountain.

To submit your band for consideration for this year’s showcase, follow the instructions at reverbnation.com.

It should be made clear that bands have to pay at least $15 to even be considered for this “showcase.” It’s the kind of pay-to-play gig that is bleeding independent musicians dry, and making festivals like this a ton of money.

    $15!!!!!!
OMG, that is out of control! Damn capitalist are ruining everything. Has to be George Bush’s fault

I think its worth it… However, Georges could front the bill if they wanted. They probably even have an accountant who could take it off on their taxes.

Musicians who win, play at waka. Musicians who play at waka are exposed to thousands of potential fans. Therefore, the 15 dollar risk of not winning the classic, is well worth the reward.

It looks like the submission fee is $10 per band for the Fayetteville showcase.

That’s not including the fee for the Reverbnation press kit, which is $5.95 per month.

@Wakarusa – Good luck to the local bands! See you at the Winter Classic and then at the Festival.

To the Winning band in Fayetteville, I would like to set up an interview with you for Honest Tunes FM. I’ve interviewed most of the past winners of this annual battle-of-the-bands. Get in touch after the contest winner is announced if you don’t see me at the show.
