As we prepare to close the books on 2012, we decided to have a look back at the top 25 most read stories on the Fayetteville Flyer as a way to remember the year that was.

In that same spirit, we looked back at the year in pictures as well. Here’s what it looked like to live in Fayetteville in 2012.

Comedian Doug Stanhope is coming to Fayetteville for a Tuesday, March 26 performance at UARK Bowl, it was announced Wednesday.

With more artists, musicians and venues, the largest public New Year’s Eve party in Arkansas will be a little bit bigger this year.

Friday events, Dec. 28

Cate Brothers

It’s a huge weekend for George’s Majestic Lounge. The venue will debut their brand new stage this weekend, and appropriately, legendary Fayetteville musicians The Cate Brothers will be among the first to play on it when they take the stage at happy hour. Local favorites The Odds will perform at 7 p.m. on the lounge stage.

Matt Smith Group is at Smoke & Barrel Friday night, featuring guitar-slingers Matt Smith, Isayah Warford, Dave Gesualdo, and Mike “Stingray” Garret on drums.

Locals John Henry & The Earthshakers will celebrate the release of a new EP at The Stolen Glass Saturday night. Local reggae band The Irie Lions will open the show.

It’s also the last weekend to check out TheatreSquared’s Period of Adjustment at Nadine Baum Studios. Here is more info on the closing weekend’s performances.
