A new brew pub called Apple Blossom Brewing Company will open on Zion Road this summer. The restaurant will be located in an 8,500-square-foot space at 1550 E. Zion Road, and will include a 200 to 250-seat restaurant for lunch and dinner, and a 10-barrel brewing system to provide a new option for fans of local beer.

Restaurant chain Dickey’s BBQ will open a Fayetteville location, among five others in Arkansas.

Wakarusa released the second of three rounds of artist announcements for the 2013 festival this week. Among the new announcements were Umphrey’s McGee, Dispatch and Amon Tobin.

We welcomed a new sponsor this week. Fayetteville Music Factory is a brand new music school that recently opened in midtown Fayetteville offering guitar, piano, bass, drums, and vocal lessons in private and group sessions. How cool is that?

Friday events, Jan. 11

Pallbearer

George’s has a happy hours how with Ozark Blues Society’s 2012 Blues Challenge winners Leah & The Mojo Doctors and Buddy Shute. The bands will be raising funds for their trip to Memphis to compete in the International Blues Challenge. Tyrannosaurus Chicken will perform late night.

The Little Rock band that made just about everyone’s best of 2012 list for best metal album is in town Friday night, with a rad-ass Fayetteville band. The Little Rock Band is Pallbearer, and the Fayetteville band is Fauxnz. The club is The Lightbulb Club. The cover’s $6.

Catfish Jackson has a new name. They’re called Strange Derangers now, and they’ll be at Smoke & Barrel Friday night.
