Lineup released for 2013 Waka Winter Classic, set for Jan. 25 at George’s

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been learning more and more about the lineup for Wakarusa 2013.

Two rounds of artist announcements have been released and a third and final round is set for this Thursday (Jan. 17).

Later this month, Fayetteville folks will have a hand at choosing at least one local band to grace a Wakarusa stage.

Five local bands will compete in the Waka Winter Classic, a battle-of-the-bands style event set for Friday, Jan. 25 at George’s Majestic Lounge. The audience in attendance that night will choose a winner to determine which band will perform at Wakarusa this summer.

This year, locals Groovement, Space Camp, Cadillac Jackson, Flipoff Pirates, and Revolution Butterfly will compete for the coveted slot. Cadillac Jackson actually won the competition last year, and we know that Groovement has played Wakarusa at least once.

As far as we know, the other three bands would be making their first appearance at the festival if they were to win “the classic.”

Who do you think will win?

it’s too bad that Farmer & The Markets aren’t in this competition. they are both local and awesome.

I like them, but they are probably disqualified on name alone. Farmer & the Markets? That is one of the worst band names I’ve ever heard. Sorry kids. I’m just being honest.

Have you looked at the names on the list of bands playing at Wakarusa? They fit right in based on name alone.

I’ve seen Farmer and the Markets. Those kids rule. Aren’t they still in high school? If you aren’t old enough to attend, you probably wont be allowed to compete.

I would like to interview the winning band for Honest Tunes Radio, FM & youtube channel!

Good luck to all the groups. See you at George’s and Waka!
