News Briefs

Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan receives a plaque from Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality representatives recognizing that cleanup of the former R&P Electroplating property is complete.

The city is giving away weatherization kits to help qualified homeowners up the energy efficiency of their houses. Included are light bulbs, shower heads, insulation kits and more.

A former electroplating site once home to tons of abandoned hazardous chemicals in southeast Fayetteville is now clean and ready to be converted into public parkland.

This week’s scheduled public meetings include the Town & Gown Advisory Committee, a City Council agenda-setting session, a Ward 4 meeting and more.

In his latest pet column, Bill McQuade writes about his belief that a rotational diet leads to a healthier pet who’ll experience less digestive upsets.

The Arkansas men’s basketball team’s road woes continued on Saturday with a 21-point loss to South Carolina in Columbia. According to HogStats.com, the Hogs are now 17-80 on the road in the post-Nolan Richardson era.
