Red Barn Ramblers to play Neill Williamson benefit March 8 at George’s

A musical super group will come together for an evening next weekend to help out one of Dickson Street’s most recognizable faces.

Red Barn Ramblers, the band made up of an all-star lineup of local, regional, and national-caliber talent, will play a benefit for long-time Dickson Street doorman Neill Williamson on Friday, March 8 at George’s Majestic Lounge.

If you’ve ever ventured to Dickson Street, chances are Williamson has checked your ID at least once at either George’s or Jose’s. Williamson suffers from cerebral palsy, and was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s a few years ago. Next week’s benefit will help to offset some of his medical expenses.

In case you aren’t familiar, The Red Barn Ramblers is saxophone legend Charlie Chalmers (Aretha Franklin, Jerry Lee Lewis, Dusty Springfield), Gary “El Buho” Gazaway (Phish, STS9, Stevie Ray Vaughn), Earl Cate (The Cate Brothers), Gery Moss, Bill White, Paul Hughes, Jerry Bone, Brother Dave Ervin, Don Johnson, JT Huff, John Ware, Neal Pendergraft, Darren Novotny, Franklin Evarts, CJ Nicolai, Marvin Short, Sandra Rhodes, Donna Rhodes, and Brenda Barnett.

The show starts at 5 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door, and all the proceeds benefit Neill.

Big band, good ol’ rock ‘n’ roll songs. See you at the show. I’ll be there, probably again recording some live videos. Best wishes to Neill. Dgold, Honest Tunes Radio
