Owl Creek School, 375 N. Rupple Road
Need to get rid of an old appliance or something too large to fit into a residential trash bin?
The first of four spring bulky waste cleanups is scheduled for Saturday, March 23 in Fayetteville.
The city’s Solid Waste and Recycling workers will accept bulky items from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Owl Creek School at 375 N. Rupple Road, and Holcomb Elementary School at 2900 N. Salem Road.
Participants are asked to bring a copy of their most recent water bill to verify Fayetteville residency.
There are limitations on what can be accepted at the cleanups:
Items allowed: Furniture, such as couches, chairs and mattresses; large appliances, such as refrigerators, stoves, lawn mowers, hot water heaters, washers and dryers; and renovation materials, such as carpet, padding, vinyl flooring, drywall and paneling (limited amounts only, no contractors allowed).
Items not allowed: Electronic items, such as TVs and computers, household hazardous items, such as medical waste, paint, thinners, solvents, batteries, cleaning chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, tires and automotive fluids; household or commercial garbage; and yard waste, such as dirt, rocks, brush, leaves and grass.
Electronic waste items may be dropped off at the Washington County Household Hazardous Waste facility at 2615 Brink Drive from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Residents may dispose of one freon-bearing appliance for free. Additional freon-bearing appliances may be disposed for $20 each.
