Instead of announcing the 2013 Fayetteville Roots Festival performers all at once, organizers have been slowly, sneakily rolling out the lineup, one artist at a time, on Facebook.

In addition to the artists we already knew about (Iris Dement and Del Coury Band) about 10 other acts were announced over the last few days, including singer/songwriter and former Conway resident Hayes Carll, New Orleans singer/songwriter Mary Gauthier, and Virginia-based duo and festival veterans, The Honey Dew Drops.

Critically-acclaimed artist John Fullbright, who was nominated for a Grammy Award since appearing at the 2012 festival, will be back and on the mainstage this year.

Also on the list of initial releases is Milwaukee band Field Report, who will be touring with Josh Rouse this summer in support of their 2012 self-titled debut album. Field Report frontman Chris Porterfield was in a band called DeYarmond Edison with Justin Vernon (Bon Iver.)

Bryan Hembree, one of the founders of the Fayetteville Roots Festival, said he has a few more contracts to finalize, and that he expects the full lineup to be released in the next few weeks. “We are really excited about these artists, and I wanted to go ahead and start getting the word out,” he said.

Hembree said that he plans to continue announcing artists on Facebook for the rest of this week, and tickets to the festival will likely go on sale on Monday, April 15.

The Fayetteville Roots Festival is set for Aug. 22-25 at various locations around Fayetteville.
