Fayetteville Springfest rescheduled for Saturday, June 22

After a year off last year, Springfest will return to Fayetteville in 2013, just a little bit later than expected.

Organizers on Monday announced that the event, originally planned for May 4, has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 22.

Board members postponed the festival earlier this month after some unseasonable winter weather – including the first ever snow in the month of May – struck the area.

Organizer Doug Allen said that the June 22 date, which technically falls on the second day of summer, was the first Saturday available in a busy time of year in Northwest Arkansas.

“We want Springfest to be a success, no matter what the season,” Allen said.

Allen said that all the signature events, including the bed races up Dickson Street, the dog parade, and the pancake breakfast benefitting the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity, will be included in the festivities on the new date.

The music schedule will also remain mostly in tact, he said.

Any changes to the schedule will soon be posted to the Springfest Facebook page and fayettevillespringfest.com.
