First Security Bank is set to unveil two new Fayetteville locations through 2014 as part of a plan to invest $5 million in new construction projects in the area.

The bank will rebuild its existing downtown branch at 11 N. College Ave., and has plans for a new location at 3443 W. Wedington Dr. in west Fayetteville.

Officials last week held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Johnson branch at 5208 S. Thompson Street. That branch will replace the existing office on the same property. A temporary modular banking facility is located on the northeast side of the site to serve customers until construction is complete.

The three projects come on the heels of the bank investing over $1 million to remodel six other banking centers in the region.

Annette King, the bank’s assistant vice president of marketing, said preliminary construction work on the downtown Fayetteville branch has already begun, and that the location is set to open late this year. King said the Wedington branch should be open by mid-2014.

According to its website, First Security Bank operates over 70 locations in 31 cities across the state.
