Fayetteville police arrested a man who they say stabbed another man multiple times in the stomach on Saturday.

Javier Vera-Jurado, 30, of 1925 W. Lawson St., faces felony charges in connection with first-degree battery, aggravated assault, third-degree domestic battery and second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.

Officers were first notified of the incident by staff at Washington Regional Medical Center who reported that a man had arrived at the emergency room with multiple stab wounds.

According to police, the victim, along with his girlfriend and infant child, were driving along Lawson Street when they noticed Vera-Jurado punching and pushing his girlfriend in the street.

The victim stopped to intervene and offered Vera-Jurado’s girlfriend a ride away from the fight. When she began to get into the car to escape, Vera-Jurado tried to stop her, but the victim intervened again and that’s when he was stabbed.

Investigators said Vera-Jurado later admitted to pulling out his pocketknife and stabbing the victim.

Update: According to an NWAOnline report, the victim was identified as 23-year-old Kenneth Kellogg.
