Dunkin’ Donuts eyes south Fayetteville location

We’ve known for a couple of years that Dunkin’ Donuts was planning several locations in Northwest Arkansas, but it wasn’t until August that we heard many details.

Shortly after posting the news that a Bentonville store was under construction, a source told us Fayetteville was up next, and that a new store would soon be built near the new student apartment complex on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

And whaddya know, that source was spot-on.

According to city documents, Dunkin’ Donuts is planning a new restaurant at 1805 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, near the corner of Beechwood Avenue, in front of the University House (formerly The Domain) apartment complex and across the street from KFC.

Initial plans submitted for the Oct. 30 Technical Plat Review meeting call for a 2,600-square-foot restaurant with a 27-car parking lot and a couple of bike racks.

The Fayetteville store is the third of seven planned Dunkin’ Donuts locations in the region. The first opened in Fort Smith in May 2012, and was the first Dunkin’ Donuts to open in the state in years. Up next were restaurants in Little Rock, Bryant, Conway and Bentonville. At least four more Northwest Arkansas locations are set to be built over the next five years.
