Giveaway: Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Nov. 19 at Walton Arts Center

Did anyone else notice that the squirrels seemed particularly diligent in their work storing nuts this fall?

Everywhere I looked, those little weirdos were running around with acorns in their mouths, making piles of nut husks (is that what they’re called?) like crazy all over Fayetteville, as though they were preparing for some kind of apocalypse.

Farmers’ Almanac winter projections for the United States

Also, my grandfather, who is a deer hunter, said that it wasn’t a great hunting season this year because there were so many acorns on the ground that the deer weren’t foraging, and therefore weren’t moving much from their nests. According to him, at least, in his experience that’s natures way of feeding the animals before the coming of a long winter.

Couple that with the fact that the Farmers Almanac is predicting a cold, snowy, winter this year, and consider the explosion of popularity of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series (winter is coming, right?), and I think we can all agree without a shadow of a doubt that there will be about a foot of snow on the ground by the time December 25 rolls around in Fayetteville this year.

All this to say, we’ve got two pairs of tickets to give away for Irving Berlin’s White Christmas at the Walton Arts Center next week. Win ’em.
