Arkansas head coach Mike Anderson said it’ll be an interesting challenge when the Hogs face the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns at 7:05 p.m. tonight (Nov. 15) inside Bud Walton Arena.

Anderson said Louisiana head coach Bob Marlin has assembled a roster full of talent, including junior guard Elfrid Payton.

“This guy could have a triple-double on any given night,” said Anderson. “He sees the floor, get gets everybody the ball, and he’s very athletic.”

Payton helped lead the Ragin Cajuns to a 101-67 win over Louisiana College during the team’s season opener last week. He finished the game with 21 points and a career-high matching 10 assists to record his fourth career double-double.

Anderson said he hopes the Hogs will have the same kind of rhythm they displayed in the second half of their 99-65 win over SIU-Edwardsville last Friday.

The Cougars came out of halftime on a 20-8 run, but Arkansas responded with consistent defensive pressure and the Hogs’ lead never dipped below 24 points from then on out.

Anderson said he’s anxious to get guard Ky Madden back into the lineup.

Madden returns to play tonight after serving a three-game suspension for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

“He’s a big guard who’s got good basketball IQ,’ said Anderson. “He gets everybody else involved, he rebounds the basketball, and last year was one of our better closers.”
