PHOTOS: 2014 MLK Day March travels through Fayetteville

A large crowd gathered at 11:30 a.m. Monday morning in the Walton Arts Center parking lot for the annual MLK Day March.

This year’s event, sponsored by the Northwest Arkansas Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Council and the City of Fayetteville, included a brief proclamation by Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan.

Participants marched from Dickson Street along Arkansas Avenue and Maple Street to the Verizon Ballroom in the University of Arkansas Union for the traditional noon vigil sponsored by the university’s Associated Student Government, the Multicultural Center and the Black Students Association.
