Mark your calendars, dry clean your jester hat, and gather your bead collections, everyone. It’s almost Mardi Gras time.

The Fayetteville Mardi Gras festivities are set to begin on March 1 with the annual Fat Saturday Parade of Fools, and Fat Tuesday fun following on March 4.

The parade is a family-friendly event featuring floats by several area krewes and businesses. It is set to begin at 2 p.m. on the Fayetteville square before making its way north on Block Avenue, east on Dickson Street, and ending at West Avenue.

Organizers are still seeking groups who’d like to build a float or walk in this year’s parade. Entry forms are available online.

Then on Fat Tuesday, a pub crawl is planned, with revelers meeting up at 7 p.m. at Jose’s to crown the royalty of the Demented Krewe of Dickson, followed by a pub crawl at 8:30 p.m. led by the Billy Zydeco Band.
