Speak For Yourself open mic to focus on travel theme at Maxine’s Tap Room

Update: This event was originally scheduled for Sunday, March 2, but was rescheduled for Wednesday, March 5 due to the weekend’s winter weather.

Is there anything more inspiring than travel? More mind broadening than experiencing a foreign culture for the first time?

We don’t know the answer to either of those questions, but swapping stories about road trips and foreign excursions sure is fun to talk about, and that’s exactly what’s going to happen this weekend.

Organizers with Speak For Yourself, a monthly storytelling open mic series held at Maxine’s Tap Room, have partnered with several international groups from the University of Arkansas to tell stories about travel adventures on Sunday, March 2 Wednesday, March 5.

Stories won’t be limited to just the students, though. Anyone who attends can tell a story. The only rules for the open mic nights are no paper, no poems, no songs – just tell a true story about a moment in your life that made an impact on your character. Just be yourself and speak for yourself.

Signup is at 5:30 p.m. and the open mic begins at 6 p.m. As always, there’s no cover to enter.
