Wakarusa adds new artists for 2014 lineup, including Fayetteville band Foley’s Van

Wakarusa officials last week added several new artists to the lineup for the 2014 music festival, which takes place June 5-8 on Mulberry Mountain.

The new additions are Prison Penguin, Kung Fu, The Black Cadillacs, D.V.S., Mouth, and the winners of the annual battle of the bands-style Waka Winter Classic.

Competition winners include Fayetteville’s own Foley’s Van, who took first place in the Waka Winter Classic at George’s Majestic Lounge in January.

Aside from promising each winner a spot on a smaller Wakarusa stage, the two bands who receive the most votes in an online poll will play at the Revival Tent this year. Voting in the online poll ends March 24.

Headlining this year’s festival are The Flaming Lips, The String Cheese Incident, BASSNECTAR, STS9, Umphrey’s McGee, and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. See full lineup.

Tickets for Wakarusa 2014 are on sale now, and are currently priced at $179 for a four-day pass. Prices are expected to increase sometime this week.
