Illinois River Watershed Partnership plans volunteer training day

The Illinois River Watershed Partnership will host a “Bio-Blitz” volunteer training day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 at the Watershed Sanctuary in Cave Springs.

Volunteers will train to help carry out new and expanding on-site projects and programs, including trail building, tree planting, stream restoration, interpretive tour guiding and green infrastructure project installation.

The afternoon portion of events lets volunteers help document and inventory the biodiversity of the Illinois River Watershed Sanctuary by on-site identification of plants, birds and other wildlife.

The event is free, and lunch will be served.
