The Natural State of Health expo planned for Saturday, May 10

A new health fair and expo will make its debut in Fayetteville this weekend.

The Natural State of Health, an event showcasing about 40 natural health care practitioners, businesses, restaurants, and community groups, is set for 9 a.m. Saturday, May 10 at the Fayetteville Town Center.

The idea behind the new expo is to connect locals with businesses that promote sustainable living.

Several activities are planned for the event, including an acupuncture demonstration, a herb detoxification class, a Wisdom Healing Qi Gong class, and a therapeutic yoga class.

Guest speakers include registered nurse Joy Balard, natural health-oriented dentist John Bain, doctor Lauren Matthews, engineer Joshua Crittenden, vegan activist Kat Mendenhall, and herbalist Maria Chowdry.

Kids activities are also planned, including a vegetable scavenger hunt, an organic tomato planting station, and a face painting booth.

The first 75 attendees will receive a reusable tote filled with goodies, and there will be hourly prize drawings for healthcare services and locally made goods.

The expo is free to attend, and open to the public.
